what is integrative Functional nutrition

Integrative Functional Nutrition is an evidence-based, comprehensive, systems-oriented, patient-centered approach to cultivate true health and wellness. By using food and lifestyle practices as therapeutic interventions based on mind-body medicine (psychoneuroendoimmunology), the body rebalances and is primed for self healing.

This wholistic approach can prevent, mitigate, and even reverse chronic conditions at the source — those that plague our modern society the most (many of which people feel they are “doomed” to get due to genetics, which is simply not true!). It is designed to optimize physical, emotional, and cognitive health and promote true vitality and longevity. An environment and lifestyle that supports true health and wellness can also reprogram your genes.

This method assesses interrelated factors such as food, gut health, lifestyle, environment, genetics, relationships, stress, and mindset —and incorporates complementary healing modalities (such as meditation and art therapy offered in our Integrative Wellness Program) into a personalized clinical treatment plan. It focuses not on the condition or symptoms as the problem, but rather as clues to investigate the underlying issues resulting in the presentation of symptoms.

Integrative and Functional Nutrition draws from Functional Medicine. It relies on clinical evidence from assessments, health histories, and lab work to identify underlying root causes of health concerns and restore the body back to balance so it can function optimally. A closely monitored, individualized health plan will support whole health naturally and teach the individual how to practice self-care for life.

My Goal as a Health practitioner

My goal is to help individuals to come alive again by getting to the root of their health concerns and relieving symptoms for good. This is done by identifying phsyiological blocks and applying lifestyle and nutritional modifications to re-balance the body and, over time, thrive. We promote total body and mind health through digestive/gut health, rebalancing the nervous system, and by introducing therapeutic foods and integrative healing modalities. I will support you in incorporating easy, practical solutions and self-care tools necessary for a busy lifestyle, empowering you to cultivate true wellness as a lifelong practice.

My Education: the Art + science of health

My undergraduate degree is in Expressive Visual Arts and I graduated as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and the Holistic Nutrition Lab's Digestive Intensive program in 2015. I am also a certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition (FDN-P) practitioner.

I graduated from the Maryland University of Integrative Health in Integrative Health and Clinical Nutrition, fine tuning my expertise in evidence-based functional nutrition practices.

I am a member of The Center for Mindful Eating, whose mission is "to help people achieve a balanced, respectful, healthy and joyful relationship with food and eating. As a practice, mindful eating can bring us awareness of our own actions, thoughts, feelings and motivations, and insight into the roots of health and contentment."

I am passionate about drawing from my life experiences and rely on a strong educational foundation in the evidence-based practice of functional medicine and mind-body-medicine principles. In this way I use my expertise in the art and science of health to guide others through their personal healing process.

my creative community

It is known that community, belonging, and strong social networks contribute to overall health, happiness, and longevity. As an advocate for human connection and collaboration, I am the founder the Silver Circle Art Center in northeastern CT since 2008. This local establishment has enhanced the quality of life for many by promoting not only a sense of belonging for local artists, but by emphasizing the personal development and health benefits of creativity through the lens of mind-body medicine. Our Integrative Wellness & Arts Program uses art and creativity as a modality for self-expression, healing, and wellness.

Taking that first step is easy.  Let's connect.
